Walter Fauntroy was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He helped coordinate numerous civil rights activities including the March on Washington, the Selma to Montgomery march. He also served as Vice-Chairman in the White House Conference on Civil Rights in 1966. He was also elected as Vice-Chairman of the Washington, DC City Council in 1967.
