Mercury in glass thermometer with protective metal housing. The scale reads from -10 to 250 degrees Celsius. The inscription reads “N. J. Laboratory Supply Co., Newark N.J. Made in Germany.” Archie James Weith (1886-1980) used this thermometer while a graduate student in chemistry at the University of Kansas, in 1909-1913. Mr. Weith was later employed by the Redmanol Division of the Bakelite Corporation.
