Mercury-in-glass minimum thermometer with a “G.M. M'F'G Co NY 41-239” inscription. The G.M. Mfg. and Instrument Co. manufactured and distributed the GEMWARE line of mechanical, optical and electrical instruments for oceanographic and limnological research. The firm was in New York City in 1953, and later moved to the Bronx.
