Alexander III and Maria Marriage Medalette, Jeton, Russia


Commemorating the marriage of Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna this medalette was minted in Russia in 1866. Alexander III ruled Russia from 1881-1894 and was affectionately known as The Peacemaker as Russia refused to engage in any wars during his reign.

Obverse inscription: В. К. АЛЕКСАНДРЪ АЛЕКСАНДРОВИЧЪ В. К. МАРIА ТЕОДОРОВНА ("Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich Grand Duchess Maria Feodorovna").

Reverse inscription: ВЪ ПАМЯТЬ БРАКО СОЧЕТ АНIУ ИХЪ ИМПЕРАТОРСКИХЪ ВЪ IСОЧЕСТВЪ 28 ОКТЯБРЯ 1866Г ("Commemorating marriage - the joining of their imperial honors celebrated 28 October, 1866").
