The “E. M. HESSLER / MANUFACTURER / OF / SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS / CLEVELAND, O.” label in the lid of the case for this tonsillotome is that of Emory Melton Hessler (1843-1920), a druggist who sold medical instruments, and who was in business during the years 1879-1898.
