Popular Comics No. 102 was published by Dell Magazine in August 1944. The upper two-thirds of the cover depicts Smilin' Jack Martin in an aerial dogfight above an ocean. The lower third is a triptych featuring scenes selected stories in the comic, including “Terry and the Pirates,” “Smokey Stover,” and “Gang Busters.” The issue also contains stories featuring “Smokey Stover," "Elza Poppin" "Dr. Bobbs," "Felix the Cat," "Polly and her Pals," "Gasoline Alley," "Etta Kent," "Toots and Casper," and "The Gumps."
Popular Comics published 145 issues from February 1936 through 1948. Popular Comics featured a variety of different stories during its run, often licensing content including Gasoline Alley, Felix the Cat, the radio show Gang Busters, Little Orphan Annie, and Dick Tracey.
