H. J. L. Struycken, a Dutch otolaryngologist, designed an instrument to measure the hearing limit for air- and bone-conductivity. Inscriptions on this example read “Monochord nach Struycken-Schaeffer D.R.G.M.” and “H. Pfau, Inh. L. Lieberknecht, Berlin NW6.” The metal pieces are marked “H. Pfau” and “1307.”
