Harrison M. Randall (1870-1969) was a physicist at the University of Michigan who, in 1910, spent a sabbatical year in Tübingen, working with the German physicist, Friedrich Paschen (1865-1947). Randall then returned to Michigan, with new ideas in his head and a Paschen-type galvanometer in his hands. In time, Randall would build several more of these galvanometers, and oversee the construction of several more by instrument makers working for the department. This is one of those instruments.
