Obverse Text: Romanization: MEIJI / SAN / JU / KYU / NEN / DAI / NIHON / 50 / SEN (Translation: Year 39 of Meiji Great Japan 50 Sen).
Reverse Image: On either side of the value are branches of Paulownia Flower (left) and Chrysanthemum Flower (Right).
Reverse Text: Romanization: GO / JU / SEN (Translation: Fifty Sen).
