black and white stereograph mounted on yellow cardstock; The National Monument to the Forefathers; text on verso tells about The National Monument to the Forefathers; sold by A. S. Burbank, Bookseller and Stationer; depicts the 81 foot tall monument commisioned by the Pilgrim Society, cornerstone laid in 1859 and completed in 1888 and dedicated on August 01, 1889; monument faces northeast to Plymouth Harbor; octagonal pedestal with four projecting buttresses; four small and four large faces; main statue is "Faith" with right hand pointing up and left hand clutching Christian bible; this image depicts the unfinished monument since some of the smaller statues on the pedestal are missing
