Analytical Balance


This analytical balance has a circular aluminum beam, agate bearings and knife edges, platinum plated pans, and a mahogany and glass case. It was made by Gebrüder Bosch (Bosch Brothers), an instrument firm in Jungingen, in southern Germany, that dates from 1852. The inscription on the ivory scale reads “Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. ROCHESTER, N.Y.” The “GESETZ GESCH.” inscription on the beam frame is German for legally protected.
