Imperial Pint Measure

Description:

Lidless tappit hen measure with a blind hinge lug; imperial pint size. Molded lip and plain base with two pairs of incised lines around rim, four lines below shoulder and at base; raised, flat bottom. Tapered, S-scroll handle with stepped thumbrest and lower spade terminal; conical strut. Rim exterior with verification mark of a crowned "A.C / N\o 1" stamped incuse to right of handle. Bottom outside has Imperial capacity and Dean of verification marks.

The blind hinge lug is thought to be an Aberdeen feature. "IMPERIAL" and "DG" marks indicate date made is pre-1835.
