Gill Measure

Description:

Lidless baluster measure with plain, galleried rim and slightly flared base; gill size. Two pairs of incised lines around body. Plain strap handle joined to conical strut with ball terminal. Rim exterior stamped to right of handle with a partial, large oval mark containing a crown over "[???]NAM" and what appears to be the Aberdeen coat of arms; to left of handle are a two-towered castle in a square and "N\o 4" in incuse serif letters.
