Glass hydrometer with ballast, and paper label marked “MADE IN U.S.A. PERCENTAGE OF PROOF SPIRITS AT 60° F. KIMBLE GLASS COMPANY.” Another paper label is marked “U.S. BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE / STANDARD HYDROMETER” and “SERIES OF 1945.”

Evan Kimble (1868-1956) established the Kimble Glass Co., in Chicago, in 1902. The firm purchased a second plant in Vineland, N.J., in 1931; and it consolidated operations in a larger factor in Chicago Heights, Il., in 1939.
