1840 - 1860 "Wreath" Quilt Block

A wreath of red roses and tulips with green leaves appliqued on white cotton. Roses have yellow centers. The wreath and leaves were removed, leaving only fragments of green thread. The ground is cut away under all appliqued motifs and numbers have been written in ink on either side of each rose. "C.W. Price" is stamped twice in an oval with eagle, stars and laurel branches. Part of a series of blocks intended for a quilt.
