This flugelhorn was made by Harvey B. Dodworth in New York, New York, around 1850-1860. It is an E-flat flugelhorn made of nickel silver, with 3 top-action rotary valves. There is a shield on the flugelhorn inscribed:

Harvey B. Dodworth (1822-1891) was a bandmaster, conductor, and businessman. Dodworth was born in England and immigrated to the United States with his family around 1825. Soon thereafter, his father, Thomas Dodworth, Sr. and brother, Allen Dodworth, formed the Independent Band of New York. In 1836, the Independent Band of New York dissolved and became the Dodworth Band under the leadership of Allen Dodworth. Harvey Dodworth took over the leadership of the Dodworth band in the late 1830s until 1890. In addition to the band, the Dodworth family were involved with a music store, a publishing company, and a school for bandsmen.
