The Saga of Hemp Brown

Original lobby card for Universal International Pictures’ 1958 motion picture, The Saga of Hemp Brown. Richard Carlson directed this western about Lieutenant Hemp Brown’s struggle to bring ex-sergeant Jed Givens’ gang to justice. Rory Calhoun, Beverly Garland, and John Larch star in this film. This card depicts Hemp Brown hiding from an armed man.

Lobby cards were once a popular form of advertisement for motion pictures. The publicity departments of Hollywood studios created cards featuring striking images of their latest films and delivered sets to theatres across the country. Lobby cards were created to entice future audiences and increase ticket sales.
