This Samoa brand condom was manufacture by Akwell Industries Inc. of Dothan, Alabama during the 1980s. The package’s cover features a picture of an island beach at sunset, with palm leaves in the foreground and the ocean in the background. The cover touts the prophylactic as being “In South Sea Color.” The back’s text reads “Embark on a new adventure with this exotic prophylactic in South Sea color…each package contains one of these colors…Sunset Red/Midnight Black/Dawn Pink/Morning Blue/Siesta Green/Colors are blended—will not rub off./Buy several packages for an exotic experience./New Freedom and Pleasure.” The tagline of “Buy several packages for an exotic experience” encouraged visitors to see condoms in a playful light.
