General Electric direct current fan motor

Description (Brief):

A round motor of the Lundell design with a circular field magnet winding. Unit has been opened and the armature is missing. An armature (NMAH catalog number 319294) has been installed in the unit and may be the original part. Coil is cloth wrapped and cloth insulated wires are used. Tag on coil reads: "4876". This specimen may have been used for demonstration purposes. Nameplate: "Direct Current Fan Motor / No. 638226 D.L. 7440 / Amp. .31 Volts, 230 / Sprague Electric Works / of General Electric Co. / New York U.S.A." On field coil: "4876". Reference: Lundell Motors, Sprague Electric Company - Bulletin 206, June 1901, page 26.
