Patent model, Munson lightning rod, US Patent #129,677

Description (Brief):

Model to accompany US Patent 129677, "Improvement in Lightning-Rods, issued to David Munson of Indianapolis, 23 July 1872. Copper braided wire wound around iron cores. Munson's intent was to design a lighting rod that combined the conductivity of copper with the mechanical strength of iron. Unit includes original Patent Office tag.
