The obverse of this bronze medal has the seal of The Johns Hopkins University, and “THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY / FIFTY YEAR ALUMNUS / 1876.” The reverse has a plinth and “JOHNS HOPKINS / 1795-1875 / 1888 / ABRAHAM FLEXNER.” Abraham Flexner (1866-1959) was an American physician and educator who received a Bachelor of Arts in classics from The Johns Hopkins University.
