Lt. Smith, 7th Cavalry


Photograph of Lieutenant Algernon Emory Smith, 7th US Cavalry. Also listed as "Brevet Captain" rank in some military records. Smith was killed in the Battle of the Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876 in the Montana Territory. He is pictured in Army dress uniform. He has a moustache and is photographed from the waist up. Written on the back of the photograph in ink is: "Lt. Smith / 7th Cavalry, Killed in battle Little Big Horn"
