Hand-Drawn Hose Reel by Robert Frazier

Description:

Built by Robert Frazier of Philadelphia for the Reliance Hose Company No. 3 of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This ornamented hose reel could carry 400 to 600 feet of leather hose. Engines were the female presence in the firehouse. Firefighters adorned them with elaborately painted panels, gilt ornaments, and etched, colored lamps.
