Infielder Henry "Heinie" Zimmerman (1887-1969) played for the Chicago Cubs (1907-1916) and New York Giants (1916-1919.) A lifetime .295 hitter, Zimmerman won the National League’s Triple Crown in 1912, leading the senior circuit in batting average, home runs and runs batted in (RBI). Later, he would lead the League in RBI for consecutive seasons (1916-1917.)
Zimmerman participated in three World Series, winning with the Cubs in 1907 and 1908 and losing with the Giants in 1917. Zimmerman was effectively banned from baseball after admitting to offering bribes to his teammates as incentive to throw games for gambling interests.
