An inscription on the cardboard box reads in part “GORDON MONAURAL HEART STETHOSCOPE” and “PRICE $5.00.” This instrument incorporated ideas developed by Burgess Gordon, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and Director, Department for Diseases of the Chest at Jefferson Hospital.
