Surgical set with a “CHAS. TRUAX & CO. / DEALERS IN / SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS / CHICAGO, ILLS.” inscription in the lid. Charles Truax (1852-1918) was born in Wisconsin, moved to Chicago in 1884, and formed Chas. Truax & Co. in 1887. That firm became Truax, Greene & Co. in the 1890s.
