Handmade display case is made from skateboard laminates and holds six Schmitt Stix created by Paul Schmitt to be used on the bottom of a skateboard deck to allow for smoother grinding when sliding down stair rails on the street or on the rail of a half pipe. From left to right these include: a white, Formica, fiberglass and wood Stix; a white plastic Stix, a green plastic Stix, a blue plastic Stix, a black plastic Stix and a red plastic Stix. Each have a slightly different thickness and shape and represent the evolution of the Schmidt Stix. This was made to show six versions of the Schmidt Stix for display at the Lemelson Center's Innoskate event in June 2013. Paul Schmitt of PS Stix, owns and operates one of the largest and most successful skateboard manufacturing companies in the United States and is known to many in the industry as 'Professor Schmitt". For almost 30 years Schmittâs company has been considered an innovative leader in design and manufacturing of high quality skateboards.
