Patent model (U.S. Patent No. 17,666) of a portable steam heater or radiator consisting of a flat-sided, horizontal rectangular steam chamber with oval side handles and arched legs that is mounted to a saucer-shaped boiler at bottom center; made by I. H. Chester of Cincinnati, OH, and patented on June 30, 1857. Boiler is fed through pipe with ball-shaped funnel at top center. Aircocks at top corners. Originally japanned or painted green; decorative scrollwork and invention name gilded across front. Paper tags stored with object and another tied with red wove ribbon to side handle are printed and handwritten with patent information and object numbers.
