Soap box derby car is a white fiberglass shell with a hole in the center for the driver to sit. The hole is padded with foam and photographs are pinned inside the car. The shell is rectangular in shape and pointed at both ends. There are four rubber wheels with white metal hubcaps. The car is decorated on the outside with stickers from various sponsors. This stock car was built from a kit by the donor, Laura Shephard, who went on to became the only girl to win three National Championships in three different divisions. She won her first National Championship with this car in 1994. This car is a representation of the 1992 innovation to soap box derby racing, the stock car. The entire car is built from a kit and differs from earlier cars which were built from scratch.
