Adlai Stevenson was the Democratic candidate for president in 1952 and again in 1956. This button was a playful response to “I Like Ike,” the primary campaign slogan of his Republican opponent, Dwight Eisenhower. Only half of the message on this Democratic button turned out to be true. The majority of voters did like Ike but did not vote for Stevenson as Eisenhower defeated him in both elections.
