Bedspread; Bates Co., USA; 1940s. Red, white, and blue jacquard-woven bedspread with a woven design of Aircraft carriers and other warships, and fighter planes. Faded center, colors are better preserved around the edges. Used by the donor’s older brother, Paul Frey, in the family home in Downer's Grove, Illinois after 1942, when the family moved to Illinois from Kinsley, Kansas. The spread was also used by the donor, Lois F. Crane, when she moved into her brother Paul's former bedroom in the late 1940s. 85” x 95” - Bates label or tag stitched into one seam.
