In 1974, Otto C. Juelich of Columbus, Ohio, wrote the Smithsonian to ask if he might donate to the museum four hardbound volumes edited by the IBM Applied Science Department. These were proceedings of computation seminars held at IBM between 1949 and 1951. They had been given to him by his 'former supervisor, Miss Elizabeth Blackwell." This is the second of the four volumes, the Proceedings for the "industrial computation seminar" held in September 1950 and published in 1951. The volume includes an essay by Wallace J. Eckert entitled "The Role of the Punched Card in Scientific Computation."
