Six serpentine-lobed circular dish with molded rim and deep, flat well; no foot ring. Center of one lobe engraved with crest of a hand erect holding a crescent. Rim underside struck with a "W" or "VV" in a rectangle and "Sheffield Arms" or eight crossed arrows in a large diamond or lozenge on one side and with an incuse triangle on the opposite side. Maker is TJ & N Creswick (Thams James & Nathaniel Creswick) of Sheffield, England; produced both sterling silver and silver plated wares. They registered the "Sheffield Arms" or crossed arrows mark in 1811 for Old Sheffield or fused plate. Began electroplating in 1852, and changed name to Creswick & Co. in 1855.
