Uncrested tappit hen measure with an S-curved thumb piece, engraved on front of body in script "G. C. / 1829 / to / W. B. / 1858."; imperial quart size. Flat-domed lid with raised disk and wide rim. Two incised lines around flared rim and waist, four below shoulder, and five at plain base; flat bottom. Strap handle with stepped thumbrest and flat terminal. Bottom outside has Imperial capacity and Dean of Guild verification marks, and is scratched in script "Aberdeen / Peters", "8", and "Aberdeen / 03(?)". Lid interior inscribed (in graphite) "1 Left".
Made around date of inscription, circa 1829; Imperial Standard marks used 1826-circa 1835.
