Galleried rim and plain, molded base; one incised line around rim and two pairs around body. Tapered, S-scroll handle with stepped thumbrest and semi-bud terminal; conical strut. Circular touchmark, including capacity, of Robert Whyte of Edinburgh cast inside lid. Rim exterior stamped "PINT" at front with a crowned "VR / 1846" verification mark for Edinburgh and "ER" mark for Ayr Burgh ("468") to right and left of handle.
