Large, two-handled, raised cylindrical bowl with tall sides and rounded bottom on pedestal base; cast fasces pattern loop handles and applied bands on rim and circular foot. Gilt-washed interior. Bottom underside engraved with three zigzag test lines and struck with six marks around large centerpoint, including maker's mark "JFK" in raised roman script in conforming surround; St. Petersburg city mark for 1771; assayer's mark "И•Ф" in raised Cyrillic in a rectangle; standard mark "79" in individual squares; and two sets of inventory numbers, "No" and "4" in raised roman script in squares and "1 • c" engraved over "4" stamped incuse. Rim interior struck incuse "93". One of two wine coolers, DL*59.2344-DL*59.2345; same date and assayer's mark, but different maker, standard and inventory marks.
Maker is Johann Frederik Köpping; goldsmith to the Imperial Court and keeper of the Imperial silver during the reign of Catherine the Great. Assayer is Ivan Frolov (Иван Фролов).
