Description:

Single-reeded circular plate with flat well scored once near booge; no foot ring. Partial touchmark of James Porter, consisting of part of the right side of a shield-body, spreadwing eagle grasping arrows in its talon, struck twice on underside of well.

Maker is James Porter of Middletown, CT (in the Connecticut River Valley) and Baltimore, MD; working circa 1795-1803.
