Description:

Scroll-bordered rectangular case with triple-scalloped, side-hinged lid and bottom with strike plate; identical, symmetrical, repousse decoration on front and back features a five-lobed shell above a raised oval reserve framed by pairs of opposing C scrolls. Gold washed interior. One side of collar (hinge at right) struck outside "STERLING" in incuse sans serif letters. No other marks.
