Serpentine-sided, oval box with slightly domed, friction-fit, hinged lid engraved "LT" in vertically-conjoined, shaded, scrolled letters; four, cast, pad feet have fleur-de-lis tops attached to box. Removable bottom consists of two pieces of card or pasteboard, the top piece padded and covered with purple silk velvet on top and grain-patterned, black paper on bottom, and a second piece covered with the same paper on both sides. Outside front of lid has two effaced marks above reverse-cyma tab, a left-facing lion passant guardant and raised roman letter "n", both in clipped-corner shields. Outside front of box collar is struck "J.H." in raised sans serif letters in a rectangle next to an anchor, a left-facing lion passant guardant and raised roman letter "n", all in clipped-corner shields.
