Rectangular case with raised, cyma-edged lid and bottom, the snap-closure, hinged lid engraved with scrolled ovals at corners and ivy leaves at sides framing "J. H. Mahoney Jr." in script across center, while the bottom underside has a bright-cut and wrigglework, Eastlake-style, interlocked C design at center bordered by thin, wavy, checkered and dotted bands. Box sides are made of a die-stamped. geometric-patterned band of inverted triangles, circles and dots. Reverse-cyma tab at center front of lid. Traces of gold wash on inteiror. Underside of tab is struck "[ST]EPLING, (sic)" and "S F.CAL."
