Date Made: 1800- 1850Sander, used to shake pounce (often powdered cuttlefish bone or sand) in order to prepare a rough writing surface. Dark, turned wood with wide, baluster-shaped base and deep, circular bowl at top. Bottom of bowl is pierced with small circular holes in rough star shape. No marks. 1800- 1850
