Black and white photograph of Captain Duerk, Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalkt, and Secretary of the Navy John Warner, 1970. Alene B. Duerk was the Director of the Navy Nurse Corps 1970-1975 and first woman to be appointed Rear Admiral in the Navy Nurse Corps in June 1972. She retired from active Naval service in June 1975.
