Catherine Cosman Gardner woven blanket; New York, ca. 1836

Description (Brief):

One of two homespun cotton and wool blankets. Natural color, plain weave blankets made by Catherine Cosman Gardner, Middle Hope, Orange Co., NY about 1836, woven in single widths and seamed up middle. Marked "Daniel Gardner," one with cross-stitvch embroidery, the other with ink. Catherine Cosman was born 1813 and died 1874. She married Daniel Gardner (1807-1862). They are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum.
