Overshot coverlet, "Double Bow Knot", ca. 1867

Description:

Blue and white overshot coverlet woven in a Double Bow Knot design. finished on one end with with fringe formed by cotton warp. This coverlet was owned by the donor's mother, Mary Josephine Bishop (Mrs. W.W. Fierce). Mary Josephine Bishop was born c 1848 in Wilksville, OH and married William Wallace Fierce. She died June 26, 1924, in Washington, DC.
