Scarf sample knitted of khaki-colored wool yarn (#4028) for US Army soldiers' wear during World War I. Samples of approved articles recommended for civilian war work, home knitting, for US army and navy use were given by important American yarn manufacturer S.B. and B.W. Fleisher, Inc., of Philadelphia, PA in December 1918, along with samples of the yarns the firm manufactured. Red Cross patterns of these items are extant.
