Description:

Scarf sample knitted of gray wool yarn (#4022); approved for wear by US Navy personnel during World War I. Samples of knitted articles approved for home-knitting by civilians for US army and navy use were given by American yarn manufacturer S.B. and B.W. Fleisher, Inc., of Philadelphia, PA in December 1918.
