Football jersey worn by Bob Waterfield (1920-1983) quarterback of the National Football Leagues' Cleveland /Los Angeles Rams from 1945-1952.
A collegiate star for the UCLA Bruins, Waterfield also served time in the Army before being drafted by the Rams in 1945. He wasted no time making his mark as a professional, leading the NFL in total offense that season while also earning the NFL's Most Valuable Player award and leading Cleveland to the NFL Championship, defeating the Redskins 15-14.
The next year the Rams moved to Los Angeles, where Waterfield continued to excel, helping to bring an NFL championship to the city in 1951. Named first team All-Pro three times, Waterfield finished his career with 97 touchdowns, 814 completions and 11, 849 pasing yards.
After his retirement the former quarterback produced movies with his wife Jane Russell and coached in the NFL, including as head coach of the Rams (1960-192.)
