Rotary beater and bowl set, steel. Mixing component is comprised of circular piece of sheet metal, slightly curved, with notches around edge, circular holes around center, attached to two bulb-shaped pieces of metal, and central metal wire shaft, attached at top to single cog wheel. Metal crankwheel with coiled wire handle connects to cog wheel, allows for mixing action. Mechanism rests on Y-shaped base that snaps onto top of mixing bowl. Arched bent metal handle. Mixing bowl is formed metal, flat bottom and sides. Bottom of bowl is marked: "MADE IN/UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" with "A&J" diamond trademark. Crankwheel is embossed: "FULL VISION/BEATER SET"; Y-shaped base is embossed: "FULL VISION".
Note: This beater set also came with the option of a vertical wooden handle.
Maker is A&J Manufacturing Company, Binghamton, New York, which was purchased by Ekco Housewares Company, Chicago, Illinois, in 1929.
