Portrait of a Young Man

Description:

Cased bust-length portrait of a young man with ear-length, curly hair, parted at his left, facing and looking at the viewer. He wears a coat, vest and cravat around high collar. Cheeks hand-tinted pink. Plain, light background. Hinged, black oval Union case features a low-relief design of doves kissing amidst roses on front and back. Front interior is lined with stamped purple velvet, while portrait is framed with a gilded acanthus-leaf preserver. Internal snap clasp at side. No marks.
