Battle of the Overpass
- Description
- On May 26, 1937 organizers from the UAW planned a "Unionism not Fordism" campaign at the River Rouge Plant of the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Organizers of the UAW were at a pedestrian overpass demanding an $8/ 6 hour day opposed to the current $6/ 8 hour day. Security from Ford Motor Company attackedand beat the UAW members. The incident hurt the Ford reputation and gained support for the UAW.
